Black Doves Fly to Freedom by Erica Stephens is an emotional ode created with empathy and transformation at it’s core. This poignant collection of poems places you across time periods to explore Black history, from pre-colonialism to modern day, and challenges you to reflect on the association between historical events and modern day issues of poverty, structural racism, lack of identity, police brutality, social expectations, among others.

The goal was to create a bold and catching design that at the same time captures a kind of poetic esthetics. The cover also needed to capture the main themes covered in the book.
